Most fans are probably aware that Freddie loved flowers, and took great delight in his garden. Several years ago, a rose breeder created a special rose in his memory, and I bought one last winter. It's just flowered for the first time, and I thought I'd share some pictures here.

This picture was taken the day that the flower first began to open. As you can see, it's quite a vibrant orange to begin with.

It opens to a sort of yellow orange, with pink around the edges.

By the third day, the flower has matured to a sort of peach colour, with orange (the official description calls it apricot) in the middle, and the pink edging having spread.

Come the fourth day, the whole flower has deepened to a peachy sort of glow, with the orange still showing in the middle. You'll have to excuse the raindrops on this one! It pelted down this morning!
So there you have it. :) Freddie's favourite colour was yellow, but I'm glad they went for something a bit more showy in his honour. I like to think that he would have appreciated this rose.
