omg!

So I was reading PerezHilton (don't judge! It's my guilty pleasure!) and I came across this which led me to this and I am just jskldjfaksjdksjd?! Ya know? All the deets are in the second link, but if you're too lazy:

  • Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing Freddie Mercury in a Queen biopic.

  • Production begins in 2011.

  • Movie focuses on band's early years and the Live Aid Perfomance (script in the works)

  • Still unsure if Cohen will sing or if Freddie's vocals will be used. But this makes me hyperventilate like a mad woman. I'm excited because it's Queen and I loved the Live Aid Performance (curse my birth being years after!!). I'm still a little iffy about Sacha Cohen as Freddie Mercury because the only movie I saw him in was Borat (ver' nice) and it was just in little clips (D8). I can't wait to see this! Or I can just go watch Live Aid on Youtube.

    Anyway, thoughts?

What what what? I've been wanting a Freddie biopic for forever it seems, so this would be a dream come true!

I haven't seen any of Cohen's work so I don't know anything about him beyond that he's a comedian and he's married to Isla Fisher. I shall choose to be skeptical for now, but it's true that actors can surprise you...

I say that they ought to keep Freddie's vocals because they're so distinct... I was happy when they kept Selena's singing for her biopic, but I remember that in the Bobby Darin film (Beyond the Sea?) Kevin Spacey sang his own parts.

PS. I just checked Brian May's website, there's a press release there about it as well under the Queen News section

And Queen standards are tough, yo. Their Live Aid performance is the one where they rocked the whole stadium (+the watching world) and no one wanted to go on after them because they were just that awesome.
